Lois Mathis Byrd

Mrs. Lois Mathis Byrd, age 80 of North Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at her home. 

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 15, 2021 at Little Mtn. Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brian Mathis officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM Thursday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Byrd was born December 1, 1940 in Wilkes County to Rev. Harvey Walter and Claudia Marie Wood Mathis.  She worked in the cafeteria at North Wilkes High School and retired after 20 years of service.  She was a member of Little Mtn. Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Gary Clinton Byrd, a sister; Wanda Jean Combs, three brothers; Rev. Tommy Mathis, George Mathis and an infant brother; Carlton Ray Mathis. 

She is survived by three daughters; Karen Bowers and husband Buster, Kimberly Williams and husband Perry, Gail Wallace and a son; Rodney Byrd and wife Heather all of North Wilkesboro, nine grandchildren; Britney LaCashio, Travis Bowers, Katelan Riddle, Todd Bowers, Colby Williams, Ashton Byrd, Garrad Williams, Madison Byrd and Cameron Byrd, eight great grandchildren; Gracie LaCashio, Karley Bowers, Jacob LaCashio, Andrew Bowers, Lydia Bowers, Elizabeth LaCashio, Jackson Bowers and Emerie Kate Riddle and a sister; Wilma Johnson and husband Allen of North Wilkesboro. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Little Mtn. Baptist Church Fellowship Building Fund, 388 Evergreen Lane, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
