Lester Eugene Cheek

Mr. Lester Eugene Cheek, age 76 of Traphill, died Friday, June 26,2020 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, June 29, 2020 at Rachel Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wiles officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Cheek was born November 12, 1943 in Wilkes County to Arlie Brett and Ruby Mae Billings Cheek.  He was a member of Rachel Baptist Church and was “The Greatest Carp Fisherman, Gardener and Family Man”. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Daisy Charline Holloway Cheek. .

He is survived by two daughters, Penny Cheek and  Larry, of Hillsville, VA, and Cindy Mastin and husband, Brian, of Elkin; two sons, Jimmy Cheek and wife, Lola and Rocky Cheek and wife, Dottie, all of Roaring River; ten  grandchildren, Dale Cheek, Travis Cheek, Kelly Richardson, Michael Poplin, Bradley Poplin, Casey Poplin, Justin Cheek, Tiffany Cheek , Kayla Kipp, and Brooke Blackburn; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Rosalee Masks and husband, Bobby, of Roaring River, Peggy Crabbe and husband, Jim, of Roaring River, Kathy Castevens and husband, Dale, of Booneville, Karen Gillis and husband, Kent, of Elkin, Marie Conley of Statesville, Pauline Upright of Statesville, and Betty Lou Holloway of Elkin; and brother, Ronnie cheek and wife, Trish, of Jonesville.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 22, Mt. Airy NC 27030.
