Larry Byron Johnston

Mr. Larry Byron Johnston, age 82 of North Wilkesboro passed away, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Medical Center.

 A private family service will be held at Fairplains Baptist Church with Pastor. David Dyer and Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. 

Mr. Johnston was born May 4, 1938 in Marion, VA to Mabel Fern Owens and Carey Byron Johnston. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Fairplains Baptist Church. Mr. Johnston worked in management for Combined Insurance Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken Johnston and Tim Johnston.

 Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife of the home, Oma Lea Tackett Johnston, a daughter Teresa Dawn Bare and Ricky of Hays; three sons, Gregory Byron Johnston and wife Markia Johnston of North Wilkesboro, Jonathan Fitzgerald Johnston and wife Sue Ann of Hays, and Bradley Cameron Johnston of North Wilkesboro; five grandchildren, David Anthony Stone, Alicia Johnston Dilbeck, Dustin C. Bare, Blake Johnston, and Tyler J. Bauguess; six great grandchildren, Ava Stone, Ansley Stone, Anna Bella Stone, Haylee Dilbeck, Rhett Bare, and Braylen Kilby, and Baby Bauguess on the way; a sister, Mary Ellen Edmiston of North Wilkesboro; two brothers, Joe Johnston of Wilkesboro, and Mike Johnston of Haymarket, VA.
