Kenneth Compton Obituary

Mr. Kenneth Lee Compton, age 94 of North Wilkesboro passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 at his home.

Graveside services with Flag Presentation by the U.S. Navy will be held  11:00 AM Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Mountlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Bert Young officiating.

Mr. Compton was born February 18, 1926 in Haywood County to John Pinkney and Della Palmer Compton. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro.  Mr. Compton worked at IBM and later for Lowe’s Home Improvement.  Ken was a skilled woodworked making furniture and other projects for family and friends.  He was also a handcarver for which he won several awards. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Bobby Compton.

He is survived by his wife Harriette Littlejohn Compton of the home; a daughter, Kathryn Lynn Compton of North Wilkesboro; a son Kenneth Lee Compton, Jr. and wife Joanne of Matthews; a grandson, John Ward Compton and wife Taylor of Charlotte; a brother, Hugh Compton and wife Maxine of Arden, NC; and two nieces Lori Sullivan and Lisa Littlejohn of Birmingham, AL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro PO Box 458 North Wilkesboro, NC  28659.
