Kay Frances (Moretz) Ray

Mrs. Kay Frances Moretz Ray, age 84 of Statesville passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Taylorsville.   

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, August 4, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Joey Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Cranberry Cemetery in Ashe County. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.   

Kay was born February 14, 1941, in Alexander County to Joseph and Clara Bell Cline Moretz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Daniel Lynn Ray, four sisters; Lois Watson, Mary Laney, Helen Annas, JoAnn Isenhour, six brothers; Buret Teague, Paul Cline, Plez Moretz, Dan Moretz, Ned Moretz, and Jimmy Moretz. 

She is survived by two daughters; Sherri Lynn Jordan (Randy) of Union Grove, Lisa Ann Punch of Hickory, three grandchildren; Angela Brown of Statesville, Brandon Davidson of Hickory, Emily Morris of Statesville, four great-grandchildren; Aiden Karter Privette of Statesville, Halla Davidson of Hickory, Raelynn Morris of Statesville, Skyler Morris of Statesville, and one sister; Bonita Sherrill (Ricky) of Valdese. 

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Iredell County Hospice, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC  28624.
