Mrs. Kay Johnston Ellis, age 63, wife of Sam Ellis, died on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Wilkes Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Flint Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Souther and Rev. Mitchell Johnston officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis was born May 7, 1957 in Wilkes County to the late Gordon and Bernice Owens Johnston. She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. She retired from NCDOT Traffic Services.
In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Jean Darnell.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Sam Ellis, of the home; her sister, Ann Hart and husband, Allen, of North Wilkesboro; two sisters-in-law, Mary Van Meter and husband, Wally, and Donna Meadows and husband, Stan; one brother, Dean Johnston and wife, Shelby, of Purlear; and two brothers-in-law, Tommy Ellis and wife, Cathy, and William Ellis and wife, Velma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
