Mrs. Kathleen Johnson Prevette, age 96 of Traphill passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. 

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 12, 2023, at New Light Baptist Church #1 in Roaring River with Rev. David Key and Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Light Baptist Church #1 Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church. 

Kathleen was born on October 25, 1927, in Wilkes County to Parley and Alma Shepherd Johnson. She worked for Holly Farms for 34 years. Kathleen was a member of New Light Baptist Church #1 for 82 years; she was the secretary for 44 years and had perfect church attendance for 40+ years. She was a faithful and dedicated Christian woman. She loved to garden, cook, and work in her flowers. Kathleen always cooked dinner on Sunday and Saturday morning breakfast for her family. She always made sure her grandchildren were in church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Walter Vaughn Prevette, two sons; Larry Gene Prevette and Walter Leon Prevette, two sisters; Lorene and Jessie Dean, and one grandchild; Angela Prevette. 

She is survived by a daughter-in-law; Fairlin Prevette of Traphill, six grandchildren; Darrell Prevette (Karen) of Mocksville, Devin Prevette (Stacey) of Traphill, Shane Prevette (Amanda) of Hays, Denita Wiles (Mark) of Hays, Shannon Bryant of Traphill, Adam Prevette of Traphill, thirteen great-grandchildren; Whitley Matkins (Daryl), Grant Wiles (Kristen), Taylor Prevette (Aubrey), Justin Fink, Leonna Fellows (Holden), Audrey Prevette, Hannah Creel (Garland), Rhianna Griffin, Tanner Griffin, Autumn Prevette, Kara Prevette, Kathryne Kilby, Austin (Kaitlyn) Luke,  12 great-great-grandchildren, and one sister; Georgie Lee Shelton of Dobson.    

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
