Karen (Cheek) Souther

Mrs. Karen Cheek Souther, age 71, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Hall and Pastor Brian Cardwell officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:30 PM prior to the service at the church.

Karen was born on October 30, 1954, in Wilkes County to Rev. Fellman and Betty Billings Cheek. Karen retired from Lowes Company after many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, William “Tam” Cheek.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Grant Souther of the home; daughter, Carisa Meade (Bradley) of North Wilkesboro; son, Todd Mathis (Lisa) of North Wilkesboro; three grandchildren, Amber Mathis, Slater Meade, Alarie Meade; a brother, Jody Cheek (Heather) of Shallotte; sister-in-law, Jan Cheek of North Wilkesboro and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
