John Odean Cass

Mr. John Odean Cass, age 88 of Union Grove, NC passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation.

Graveside services with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard and the National Guard Honor Guard will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, April 26,2021 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Mr. Cass was born June 30, 1932 in Wilkes County to Harvey Lee and Chattie Mae Speaks Cass. John Odean served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired after 20 years from the City of Denver, Colorado.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Terri Diane Cass and Karen Lynn Blaes; and a son John Odean Cass, Jr.; mother of his children, Billie Adonna Crownover; three brothers, Harvey Eugene Cass (Alice), Fred Romas Cass, and Steve Rodney Cass; and five sisters, Florene Hauser, Lucille Eller, Mary Marcelene Laws, Judy Karen Tanis, Regina Prevette (Robert).

Mr. Cass is survived by one daughter, Johna Sue Cass of North Wilkesboro; his companion of 40 plus years, Winfreda "Rose" Smith; three grandchildren, Amber Lynn Kimpe, Brooke Bible Minkel, and Brandy Lee Blaes all of Colorado; three sisters, Margaret Johnson of Statesville, Billie Ann Weatherman and husband Jerry of Statesville, and Linda Rebecca Bumgarner of Winston Salem; and two brothers, Gary James Cass and wife Louise of East Bend and Marsh Edwin Cass of Wilkesboro; and a special loving niece, Tammie Johnson Sherrill of Chesapeake, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
