John Caudill Obituary

Mr. John Alvin Caudill, age 86 of Millers Creek, husband of Frances Cooke Caudill, passed away December 29, 2020 at his home.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Caudill was born in Wilkes County to J. Van and Agnes Eller Caudill on December 23, 1934. He was a member of Millers Creek United Methodist Church. His community services included: being a founding member, chief and member of the board of directors of the Millers Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

He coached his sons’ Little League Team, the Tigers and was the leader of their Boy Scout Troop 399.  Mr. Caudill enjoyed working. He spent 20 years as a service technician for Sears.  He owned and operated Oak Forest 76 Convenience Store and garage for 11 years.  He also worked for the NC Forest Service where he helped control forest fires by operating heavy equipment for 13 years.  In his later years, he enjoyed golfing, raising cattle and bird watching.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons; Tom and Alex Caudill.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Frances Cooke Caudill, a son Charles of the home, a daughter Debbie Kilby Tompkins, husband Rickie of Tobaccoville, NC and daughter Diana Kilby of North Wilkesboro.
