Mr. Jimmy Dwight Owens, better known as “J.D.”, age 85 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist – Wilkes Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Second Street Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Dillard officiating. Burial will follow in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
Mr. Owens was born July 6, 1940, in Wilkes County to Gentry Samuel and Minnie King Owens. He retired as a live haul supervisor and worked at Holly Farms/Tyson for 60 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Jane Gilreath Owens; one daughter, Tina Owens; one granddaughter, Kayla Nicole Eller; seven sisters and one brother.
He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Triplett and husband John of North Wilkesboro; one son, Terry Owens and wife Liz of North Wilkesboro; six grandchildren, Jason Triplett, Jimmy Triplett, Josh Eller, Jeremy Triplett, Joseph Eller, and Jonathan Owens; and nine great-grandchildren, Brittany Trapp, Brianna Blevins, Nicole Eller, Hailey Eller, Lucas Triplett, Isabel Owens, Zachary Stines, Blake Eller, and Owen Eller; and six great-great-grandchildren.
