Mr. Jimmie Ray “Jim” Absher, age 88 of McGrady, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kenny Absher and Rev. Claude E. Rhodes officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday November 4, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard will be held at Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jim was born April 16, 1937, in Wilkes County to Raymond Council and Nora Felts Absher. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim worked in auto body restoration and repair for over 50 years. He was well known for his top-quality work and especially his high-quality paint work. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a proud member of the Halls Mill Ruritan Club, McGrady Fire Department for many years and a member at Cane Creek Baptist Church in McGrady. He loved horses and hunting with his beagles.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children; Willa Jean Parsons Absher Powers, a sister; Virginia Absher Shumate, infant brother; Ivan, and a stepson.
He is survived by his wife; Rachael Mullins Absher, six daughters, Judy Absher Rayborn of North Wilkesboro, Debbie Absher of McGrady, Donna Absher of Ronda, triplet daughters; Janice Crews (Philip) of Purlear, Janie Absher of McGrady, Jeanie Absher of McGrady, two sons; Ronnie Absher (Kristal) of Hays, Danny Absher (Denise) of North Wilkesboro, twelve grandchildren; Brandon Harper, Ivan Harper, Garrett Harper, Logan Absher, Brodie Absher, Seth Brown, Andrew Crews, Madalyn Brown, Luke Absher, Kaitlyn Davis, Parker Davis, Avery Absher, five great grandchildren; Liam Harper, Lizzie Harper, Georgia Absher, Wrenlee Crews, Ella Grace Absher, brother; J.D. Absher (Helen) of McGrady, a stepdaughter and two stepsons.
