Jesse Douglas Blackburn

Mr. Jesse Douglas Blackburn, age 78 of Moravian Falls passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2023, at Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brian Miller officiating. 

Jesse was born on October 14, 1945, to Albert Finley and Elzena McNeil Blackburn.  He was a loving husband, father, and “Papaw” who never met a stranger.  Jesse was well known, well loved, and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Blackburn, and a grandchild, Shannon Norman-Bochaki.

He is survived by two daughters, Paula Dishmon of Taylorsville, Pennie Norman and husband William of Wilkesboro; two sons, Tommy Curtis Blackburn of Wilkesboro, Mark Graden Russell and wife Laura of Millers Creek; ten grandchildren, Holly Bishop and husband William of Wilkesboro, Heather Sipek of Lenoir, Christalynn Russell of Lenoir, Corey Dishmon, Kayla Dishmon, Shawn Dishmon of Taylorsville, Jimmie Patterson, Bryson Patterson, Emily Patterson and Hannah Patterson of Millers Creek; three great grandchildren, Skylar Sipek, Brinley Oxentine, Graylin Oxentine; and one sister, Alta Steele of Boomer. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goshen Baptist Church Youth Fund, 6524 West NC Hwy. 268, Wilkesboro, NC  28697.
