Jerry "Cubby" Wilcox

Mr. Jerry “Cubby” Clinton Wilcox, age 73 of Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024 at his home. 

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, December 6, 2024, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Mike Hamby officiating.  Entombment will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

Jerry was born July 23, 1951, in Wilkes County to J.C. and Ollie Wyatt Wilcox.  He was a member of Arbor Grove Methodist Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Cindy Sturgill. 

He is survived by his wife; April Pearson Wilcox of the home, a daughter; Beth (Jeremy) Godbey of Elkin, a son; Jacob Wilcox of North Wilkesboro, grandchildren; Tanner Wabel, Brody Wabel, Holt Wabel, Jaxon Godbey, Ashtyn Godbey, River Wilcox, Luka Wilcox, three sisters; Nettie (James) Johnson of North Wilkesboro, Betty Mash of Wilkesboro, Linda Newman of North Wilkesboro and a brother; Clyde Wyatt of North Wilkesboro, several nieces and nephews. 

Jerry was a loving husband, father and Papaw.  

Jerry was an outstanding athlete in high school and beyond.  He played Semi Pro Baseball for the Winston-Salem Pond Giants and excelled in any sport he chose.  Baseball, football, basketball, softball, and golf.  Jerry cherished his family, his many friends and dog, Bella. 

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Arbor Grove Methodist Church, c/o Lindsay Eller, 590 Shepherd River Road, Millers Creek, NC 28651. 

Pallbearers will be: Jerry Gant, Jamey Bare, Toddy Bates, Jaxon Godbey, Bruce Pearson and John McGuire
