Jennie Pruitt Shumate

Jennie Lee Pruitt Shumate, age 86 of Moravian Falls, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her daughters, Thursday, December 31, 2020 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM January 3, 2021 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Coy Baker and Pastor David Jones officiating. The public may view Mrs. Shumate from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2021, and the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jennie was born June 6, 1934 in Alleghany County to Commie and Carrie Ella Billings Pruitt.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Gwyn Shumate; a daughter, Judy Ann Eller; two grandsons, Justin Lee Eller and Marty Gwyn Shumate; six sisters and three brothers.

Jennie is survived by five daughters, Pauline Johnson and husband Tony of North Wilkesboro, Wanda Shew and husband Danny of Wilkesboro, Reba Bumgarner and husband Dicky of Moravian Falls, Nancy Call and husband Kenneth of North Wilkesboro, and Peggy Hudler (Adopted sister and daughter) of Boomer; ten grandchildren, Ethan Ray Whiddon, Katie Shew, Chance Johnson, Chad Shew, Christy Shew, Josh Call, Justin Bumgarner, Kierstin Bumgarner, Ben Call, and Cydney Hill; ten great grandchildren, Jacob Shew, Savannah Shew, Rowan Shew, Jaylyn Rhoades, Hudson Rhoades, Tyler Call, Abi Hart, Raven Wyatt, Delaney Reedy, and Jackson Reedy.
