Mrs. Janet Davis Ward, age 93, of Wilkesboro passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Cub Creek Baptist Church, with Pastor Kurt Ward, Pastor Brian Sampson and Deacon Fred Eldreth officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 PM prior to the service at Cub Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cub Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Janet was born September 14, 1932, in Wilkes County to Clayton Carlton Davis and Evelyn Marie Dancy.

Her greatest accomplishments were to serve as a wife, a mother and a grandmother. She took on each of those responsibilities with great joy, using her many talents and abilities to love those in her family well.

Janet also served several roles with her church and with area nonprofit organizations. She led and participated in numerous Bible studies at Cub Creek Baptist Church, including as a Sunday School teacher and VBS director. She also assisted with the administration of Boy Scout Troop 315, Babe Ruth Baseball, Little League Baseball of Wilkes, and Moravian Falls Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; Muncie Sherrill Ward, and two sisters; Faye Joines and husband Bill, Betty Brown and husband Dean, and daughter-in-law; Marsha Zimmerman Ward.

She is survived by her daughter; Teresa Ward Rhodes (Bill) of Advance, four sons; Timothy Sherrill Ward (Mary Kay) of Graham, Darrell Nathan Ward (Renae) of Boone, Daniel Clayton Ward (Charlene) of Oak Island, Kurt Charles Ward of Gibsonville, eight grandchildren; Nathan Lee Ward (Kayla) of Boone, Rachel Elizabeth Ward Brown (Thomas) of Boone, William Adam Rhodes (Selah) of Cary, Benjamin Davis Rhodes (Heather) of Lithia, FL, Andrew Clayton Ward (Lindsay) of North Wilkesboro, Ashley Marie Ward Bevill (Price) of Raleigh, Brad Alexander Ward of Chicago, IL, Casey Elizabeth Ward of Gibsonville, twelve great-grandchildren; Emery Grace Rhodes, Camden James Rhodes, Judah Michael Rhodes, Asher Caleb Rhodes, Sydney Rae Ward, Cole Nathan Ward, Haddie Florence Brown, Caroline Elizabeth Brown, Walter Thomas Brown, Rachel Jane Brown, Clayton Knox Ward and Canaan Nash Ward.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Ward, Cole Ward, Thomas Brown, Drew Ward, Clayton Ward, Adam Rhodes, Ben Rhodes, Brad Ward, Price Bevill and William Joines.
