James "Jim" Mitchell Obituary
Mr. James “Jim” Verle Mitchell, age 86 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday January 10, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Rock Quarry Road North Wilkesboro with Rev. Joel Blevins and Rev. Dwayne Andrews officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:45 PM until 1:45 PM at the church prior to the service. Burial with military honors by VFW Post 1142 will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Mitchell was born April 20, 1934 in Robeson County to Carson and Jessie Spalding Mitchell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Hamby.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Stone Mitchell; three daughters, Jessica Johnson and husband Jeffrey of North Wilkesboro, April Johnson and husband Jeff of North Wilkesboro, and Crystal Locklear and husband Matthew of Maxton, NC; a son Brian Ward and wife Amanda of North Wilkesboro; twelve grandchildren, Christine Williams, Maygan Fender, Tasha Stikes, Daniel Stikes, Noah Johnson, Peyton Johnson, Ava Johnson, Abigail Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, Noah Locklear, Joshua Locklear and Mia Locklear; eleven great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Stikes, Isaiah Stikes, Christian Anderson, Carrigan Anderson, Sophie Collins, Macie Collins, Grayson Williams, Nolan Williams, Jaylen Williams, Khloe Williams and Hank Fender; five sisters, Lois Lowry, Ann Oxendine and husband Monty, Frances Sanderson, Linda Hunt and Brenda Maynor all of Robeson County; three brothers, Carson Jr. Mitchell and wife Faye, Venard Mitchell and wife Louise, and Bobby Mitchell and wife Shelby all of Robeson County.
