Mr. James Alter Woodie, Jr. age 80 of Purlear, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Greater Vision Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Pardue officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 PM until 12:45 PM at the church.
James was born October 21, 1944, in Cabarrus County to the late James Alter Woodie, Sr. and Frances K. Bradford Woodie. He was a founding member of Greater Vision Baptist Church and a retired member of the Champion Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry R. Woodie, Sr.
He is survived by wife, Sue Broyhill Woodie, of the home; two daughters, Kathy Holbrook and Marie Woodie; son, Jeff (Stephanie) Church of Millers Creek; two grandchildren, Amy (Jeff) Hudson and Kristen Church; three great-grandchildren; nephew, Jerry Woodie, Jr. and special nephew, Tyler McNeil.
