James Willard "Boot" Shew

Mr. James Willard “Boot” Shew, age 86 of Wilkesboro passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at his home. 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 12, 2021 at Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church with Pastor David Wellborn, Rev. Ronnie Gregory and David Gregory officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church. 

Boot was born May 8, 1935 in Wilkes County to Richard and Eva Shew.  He was a member of Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church.  Boot loved to hunt, fish and spend time at the cabin.  He loved to ride around the near way, visit with family and friends and he loved to sit and talk about his moonshine days. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; Gilbert Shew. 

He is survived by his wife; Bernice Call Shew of the home, three daughters; Debra Jean Gregory and husband Ronnie, Glenda Gail Shew all of Wilkesboro, Jennifer Renae Waddell and husband Eddie of Roaring River, a son; James Randy Shew and wife Dana of Wilkesboro, eleven grandchildren; Julie Hartley, Melissa Holt, B.J. Porter, David Gregory, Cassie McHargue, Willie Porter, Joshua Porter, Emilee Waddell, Jaymee Waddell, Dannielynn Shew and Dylon Mathis, twenty great grandchildren; Weston Shew, Mason Hartley, Easton Hartley, Liliana McHargue, Xavier Piper, Ellie Piper, Amelia Mathis, Josie Miller, Asher Miller, Callie Miller, Peyton Gregory, Bria Gregory, Owen Combs, Austen Prevette, Heidi Porter, Logan Porter, Ashland Porter, Kierra Porter, Levi Porter and Gabriel Porter and a sister; Ella Mae Riddle of North Wilkesboro, a sister-in-law; Hallie Mae Shew of Wilkesboro. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fishing Creek Arbor Building Fund, 2446 Fishing Creek Arbor Church Road, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
