Mrs. Betty Inez Owens Jay, age 81 passed Wednesday January 5, 2021 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation North Wilkesboro.
Mrs. Betty Inez Owens was born on July 20, 1940 to Oren Herbert ”Hub” and Edith Waters Owens of Purlear.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymon O. Jay, her parents, and a daughter Janice Lovette, a sister Jean Windham, three brothers, Benny Owens, Hubert Owens and Buck Owens, and one grandchild Chad Lovette. She was a homemaker and loved her family especially her grandsons and great-grand daughters. Inez enjoyed daily walks and gardening.
She is survived by one son; Richard Allen Lovette and wife Beth of Wilkesboro, four sisters; Peggy Dobson of Laplata, Maryland, Wilma Healey, and Vivian Greene and husband Lonnie of White Pine, TN, Sandra Melaga of Clemmons, Sharon Gryder and husband Jimmy of Millers Creek, three brothers; Ralph Owens and wife Jackie, Joe Owens and wife Sandra of Winston-Salem and Danny Owens and wife Linda of Morristown,TN and three grandchildren; Shay Martin Lovette of Boone, Michael Ray Eller and fiancé Kayla, and two great-grandchildren; Ally Eller and Leah Spears of Millers Creek.
Private funeral services will be held at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel in North Wilkesboro with the Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Yellow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
