Mrs. Imogene Phillips Payne, age 93, of North Wilkesboro passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake-Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Alfred E. Andrews, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Yellow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Imogene was born August 17, 1932, in Wilkes County to Guy and Nellie Michael Phillips. Imogene enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, and cooking for her family. She worked in her son's optometric office for many years. Imogene was a member of Yellow Hill Baptist Church and later at Welcome Home Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Andrew Payne, Jr., and her brother; Athel Phillips.
She is survived by her son; Dr. Danny J. Payne (DeLea) of North Wilkesboro, sister; Madylene Phillips Walsh of Clemmons, sister-in-law; Patsy Phillips, nephew; Kevin Phillips (Susie), and niece; Alisa Phillips.
