Mrs. Ima Lee Gentry Crews, age 84, of Purlear passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Millers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Shannon Critcher and Rev. Jim Gore officiating. Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Ima was born on March 15, 1941, in Wilkes County to Arlie Rayvaughn and Sarah Emma Brown Gentry. Ima was a devoted Christian. In her youth she was part of a trio that included her sister, Ruth and friend, Rebecca Sidden and would sing at church gatherings. She was a member of Millers Creek Baptist Church and loved to sing in the choir until her health prohibited it.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter; Julene Crews Greene, a sister; Ruth Gentry Brown and an infant brother; John Gentry.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three and a half years, Grady Crews of the home; a son; Philip Crews and wife Janice of Purlear, four grandchildren; Miguel Greene and wife Sherry of Millers Creek, Monte Greene and fiancé Barbara of Hays, Emily Greene Mueller and husband Kyle of Mooresville, Andrew Crews and wife Jaden of Hiddenite and three great grandchildren; Van Mueller of Mooresville, Clara Mueller of Mooresville and Wrenlee Crews of Hiddenite.
