Hubert Whittington

Mr. Van Hubert Whittington, age 94 passed away peacefully at his home in North Wilkesboro on Monday, February 22, 2021. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Baptist Home Baptist Church with Pastor David Jones and Rev. Richard Peck officiating.  Burial with Military Honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park.  There will be a public viewing from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM Thursday morning prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

Mr. Whittington was born January 6, 1927 in Wilkes County to Odell and Edna Irene Whittington.  He was a member of Baptist Home Baptist Church and a life-long member of the Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Club.  Mr. Whittington served in the United States Navy Medical Corps.  He worked for over 42 years in the Radiology Department of Wilkes Regional Medical Center. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; John Allen Whittington and Odell Whittington, Jr. and a sister-in-law; Grace Dean Whittington. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; Maxine Sidden Whittington of the home, two daughters; Tena Van Whittington Reed and husband William of Hendersonville, TN, Regis Lynn Whittington Melvin and husband Randy of Troutman, one son; Hugh Sidden Whittington and wife Susan of Marvin, seven grandchildren; Patrick and Megan Reed of Hendersonville, TN, Conner, Grace and Olivia Whittington of Marvin, Sylvia and Gavin Melvin of Troutman and a sister-in-law; Martha Sheets Whittington of Wilkesboro.
