Hope Maxine Lankford Brooks, age 86, went home to be with Jesus on November 18, 2020.  She and her husband Paul of 64 years had a wonderful life farming, growing chickens and raising their four children; Dale Brooks and LuAnn of Ronda, Jan Benton and Terry of Ronda, Neil Brooks and Linda of Wilkesboro and Alan Brooks and Amanda of Ronda.  She was a Mamaw to eight grandchildren; Brad Benton and Jamie, Summer Gault and Rob, Mat Benton and Kelly, Cassi Lowder and Hal, Tyler Brooks and Autumn, Deedee Chapman and B.J., Austin Gregory and Hayley and Emilee Gregory, thirteen great grandchildren; Wyatt Benton, Emma Benton, Addie Hope Lowder, Emerson Lowder, Abby Benton, Aliza Lowder, Annabelle Benton, Barnes Benton, William Benton, Macy Goad, Garrett Brooks, Laney Benton and Callum Brooks.  They were the joy of her life and she was well loved by each of them.

Hope was born in Wilkes County on September 12, 1934 to Frank Howard Lankford and Annie Belle Colston Lankford.  She was one of five siblings and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters: Joyce Johnson and Frankie Welborn.  She is survived by her sister; Glenda Yokely of Winston-Salem and her brother; F. H. Lankford of Georgia and a special niece; Pam Leland of High Point.

A faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, she enjoyed serving in the nursery, with visitation and the card ministry.  She worked at Hanes Knitting for several years until she became a full-time chicken farmer and homemaker.  She loved gardening and was a talented seamstress, sharing her Barbie clothes with many children in the community as well as her family.

She will be remembered as a devoted Mom, a loving Mamaw, a faithful friend and hard working member of the community.  She fought a courageous battle and will be missed.

A special thank you to Wake Forest Oncology, Dr. Powell and his team for their devoted, compassionate care and to Debbie Ford, RN of Mtn. Valley Hospice.
