Mrs. Helen Mangum Shinaman, age 89, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2025,at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Dr. Bert Young officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Helen was born January 8, 1936, in Guilford County to Presley Robert and Myrtle Stinnette Mangum. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro, and she held a degree in Dental Hygiene and later a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Helen was licensed as a dental hygienist in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband; J. Allen Williams, Sr. and second husband: Paul Charles Shinaman, step-son; Craig Shinaman, two sisters; Kathleen Torro, Dorothy Short, three brothers; William Mangum, Robert Mangum, and Jerry Mangum.
She is survived by a step-daughter; Alice Lorraine (Lori) Parker and husband Larry of Hawkinsville, GA, step-son; (Jay) James Allen Williams, Jr. of Hickory, also Bradford C. Shinaman and wife Melanie of Moravian Falls and their children; Daniel Shinaman, Jay Shinaman, and Stephanie Shinaman, daughter-in-law; Debra Shinaman and her two children; Dr. Richard Shinaman and wife Joelle, Brian Shinaman of North Wilkesboro and one great granddaughter; Maya Rose Shinaman of California, nieces; Nancy Ferguson (Alan), Melissa Torro, Juliana Bair, nephews; Don Mangum (Elizabeth), Robert Mangum (Teresa), Brian Mangum (Tonya), Scott Mangum (Diana), and Joseph Mangum.
