Mrs. Helen Victoria McLain Cox, age 94, of Wilkesboro passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Blevins officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 PM prior to the service at the church.

Helen was born March 13, 1931, in Wilkes County to Jack and Oma Mink McLain.  She was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church.  Growing up in the midst of the Great Depression and WWII, Helen lived an eventful and extraordinary life.  She loved the outdoors, gardening and canning.  She retired from Modern Globe after 35 years of service to become a dedicated caregiver of her husband until his passing. Helen was most known for her generous and loving heart, caring for her family and anyone that entered her home.  Always the hostess, Helen kept her family close with family gatherings and home cooked meals. She loved her church family and was heavily involved in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and WMU. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; James Arthur Cox, two daughters; Sandy Skipper and Renee Anderson, three sisters; Louise Staley, Betty Mayberry, Ruth Moore and two brothers, James “J.D.” McLain and Sherrill McLain and a son-in-law; Eugene Love.

She is survived by a daughter; Vickie Love of Wilkesboro, a son; Greg Cox and wife Carolyn of Wilkesboro, nine grandchildren; Steven Cox and wife Brooke, Tonya Love, Angie Zimmern and husband Bill, Adrian Cox, Brian Cox, Mark Love and wife Holly, Andrew Johnson and wife Erica, Myranda Olson and husband Lars and Nick Skipper. Great grandchildren; Jaden, James, Katie, Abby, Layla, Chloe, Huntley, Logan, Connor, Deegan, Katy and Grant, son-in-law; Earl Anderson, and special brother-in-law; Charles Westmoreland.

Pallbearers will be Steven Cox, Adrian Cox, Mark Love, Bill Zimmern, Huntley Zimmern, Nick Skipper, and Cam Key. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Westmoreland.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Fishing Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1191 Old 60, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
