Hazel Parsons Mayes

Mrs. Hazel Parsons Mayes, age 93 of Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Clemmons Village 1 in Clemmons, NC.  

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro with Dr. Bert Young officiating.  Private graveside services were held. The family will receive friends following the service in the Wayland Fellowship Hall.             

Hazel was born July 10, 1929 in Wilkes County to James Walter and Mary Annie Hutchens Parsons.  She founded the Academy of Artistic Hair Design in 1966 and was the owner of Artistic Beauty Salon.  Hazel worked as a hairdresser for nearly 75 years. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Harold Mayes, a daughter; Sabrina Franklin and she was the last survivor of ten children.

She is survived by two granddaughters; Tamara Franklin LaMontagne and husband Craig, Brittany Franklin Pendergrass and Corey, eight great grandchildren; Jillian, Fisher, Elise, River, Cecilia, Shiloh, Ella Belle and Jubilee and son-in-law; Daniel Franklin.
