Mr. Gwyn “David” Rogers, 83 of North Wilkesboro, passed away May 11, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist - Wilkes Medical Center.
David was born in Wilkes County to Guy Vernon Rogers and Martha Lucinda (Cindy) Cain Rogers. He retired from L & L Machinery, a division of Modern Globe. He was a member of Moravian Falls Baptist Church for 38 years and baptized on December 1, 1985. David was a Sunday school teacher in the Young Adults class and later the Koinea class. He was ordained as a Deacon on September 21, 1986. David loved wildlife, fishing, traveling and often had wanderlust to places unknown. He designed, constructed, and installed the altar rail in the sanctuary of the church and many other woodworking projects in the community, after retirement.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, May 15, 2023 at Moravian Falls Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Sturgill and Rev. Chris Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in the Moravian Falls Community Cemetery.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Brookshire.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Rogers of the home; children: Kim Shew (Joe) of Moravian Falls, Gwen Smith (Lee) of Colfax, Janet Pinkerton of Hickory, Michael Thornton (Bre), and Donnie Thornton (Angila) both of North Wilkesboro, Jeannie Lawrence (Jeff) of Winston-Salem; brothers: Clyde Rogers (Jean) and Floyd Rogers both of Moravian Falls; sisters: Mildred Edmisten and Joyce Bullis (Ralph) both of Moravian Falls, grandchildren: Coty Chapman (Julie) of Taylorsville, Casey Chapman (Hali) of Stony Point, Natasha Robinette (Jeff) of Hickory, Amber Thornton, Hannah Thornton, Kaleb Thornton all of North Wilkesboro, Lilly Thornton of Purlear, Brandi Talley (Edward) of Wilmington, Beth Talbert and Brent Talbert (Stephanie) all of Orlando, FL, six great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
