Mr. Grady Julius Nichols, age 96, of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at his home. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 19, 2025, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Highway 16 with Rev. Brady Hayworth, Rev. Donnie Shumate, and Preacher Joe Farmer officiating. Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard and North Carolina National Guard will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

Grady was born October 10, 1929, in Wilkes County to Robnit Grady and Rettie Bullis Nichols. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Grady was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Frances Elena Nichols, two sons; James Iredell Nichols, Wayne Alvin Nichols, three sisters; Mae N. Eller, Velma N. Steelman, Frances N. McGlamery, six brothers; Richard Nichols, Luther Nichols, James Nichols, Ralph Nichols, J.P. Nichols, and Herbert HC Nichols. 

He is survived by his son; Timothy Faw (Sally) of Wilkesboro, granddaughter; Kendall Shumate (Hagan), and two great-grandchildren; Maddison Shumate, Kristina Shumate, several nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Pallbearers will be; Michael G. Nichols, Michael A. Nichols, Hagan Shumate, Feryal Little, Jacob Eller, Jerry Miller, Buster McGlamery, Jonathan Nichols, and Darwin Nichols.
