Grace Ivory Thomas departed this life for her heavenly home on January 10, 2025 at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilkesboro, NC.  She was 98 years old.  She was born on May 30, 1926 in Ashe County to the late Fred C. Miller, Pearl Reaves Miller and Maude Kyle Miller.  She later married Charlie P. Thomas, Sr. and they moved to North Wilkesboro, NC and built a home there. 

She attended school in Ashe County and later went to Wilkes Community College where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse.  She worked at Wilkes General Hospital, Forsyth Hospital and later Britthaven Nursing Facility in Wilkesboro, NC. 

She enjoyed cooking, gardening and especially her family.  She was often seen on her porch or sitting in her yard.  She enjoyed painting pictures, macrame, sewing, and other arts and crafts. 

She is predeceased by her parents-Fred C. Miller, Pearl Reaves Miller, and Maude Kyle Miller.  She is predeceased by her husband, Charlie P. Thomas, Sr.; a son, Charlie P Thomas, Jr. and a daughter, Barbara Dobbins Brown; grandson, Warren Dobbins, brothers, Fred Miller, Jr. and John C. Miller; sisters, Bernice Thomas and Catherine Richardson. 

She leaves to mourn her departure a daughter, Wanda Heggie (James) of Greensboro, NC, grandchildren, Sabrina Dobbins of Roaring River, Tatia Long (Ashanti) of Dallas, Kindra Thomas of Virginia, Jamie Thomas of Greensboro, and Angela Thomas; Brothers-in-law, Joe Thomas of North Wilkesboro and Dennis Thomas of Clemmons. Sister-in-law Virginia Miller of West Jefferson.  She also leaves four great grandchildren; Kevin Dobbins (Adriann), Phillip Dobbins Waldrup, Sid Dobbins Waldrup and Ezekiel Long. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Speas, Rev. Michael Thomas, Rev. James Ferguson and Rev. Roderick LaGrand officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
