Mrs. Gladys Smithey Anderson, age 99, of Wilkesboro passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at Wilkes Senior Village.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 14, 2025, at Oakwoods Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Duncan and Rev. Ronnie Millsaps officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Gladys was born April 6, 1926, in Wilkes County to Walter Otto and Clara Johnson Smithey. She was a loyal member of Oakwoods Baptist Church. Gladys retired from Glenn’s Tastee Freeze after 48 years at the age of 86.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Henry Roosevelt Anderson, one son; Dwight Anderson, three sisters; Lucille Brown, Ruth Rhoades, Joyce Hutchens, three brothers; Worth Smithey, Wayne Smithey, and Ralph Smithey.
She is survived by her daughter; Angela Grace Mastin Reavill of Wilkesboro, three sons; Walter Roscoe Anderson of Moravian Falls, David Henry Anderson (Janie) of Millers Creek, Phillip Douglas Anderson (Teresa) of Olive Branch, MS, eleven grandchildren; Greg Anderson, Shannon Smith, Donald Mastin, Mark Reavill, Melissa Reavill-Nunn, Michelle Anderson, Andrea “Andy” Warren, Jason Anderson, Dana Gahagan, Doug Anderson, Brett Anderson, twenty three great-grandchildren; Austin, Jessica, Jaren, Braden, Chris, Danielle, DeAnna, Alex, Cameron, MaryBeth, Caleb, Wyatt, Josh, Kayla, McKenna, Drew, Noah, Payten, Hayden, Levi, AnnaBelle, Zoe,and David. Fifteen great-great-grandchildren; Forest, Finley, Adeline, Madison, Jayda, Rylee, Adison, Beau, Silas, Brantley, Noah, Oakleigh, Ridge, Baby girl Selah on the way, Baby boy Jett on the way, three sisters; Willa Mae Waddell (Bobby) of North Wilkesboro, Jeri Burkhart (Jerry) of Cherry Grove, SC, Debbie Bare (Steve) of Moravian Falls and one brother; Clayton Smithey (Catherine) of Greensboro.
