Mr. Garry Rayvaughn Spears, age 82, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Flint Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Souther and Rev. Mitchell Johnston officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard, will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the church. 

Mr. Spears was born October 25, 1943, in Wilkes County to Clifford Spears and Josephine Bare Spears. He was a Deacon at Flint Hill Baptist Church. He retired from Vulcan Materials as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Daryl Spears, Richard Spears, and Joe Spears.

Mr. Spears is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Mae Dowell Spears, of the home; daughter Wynette Adams (Wesley) of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Zachary Hayden Shumate and Nathan Shumate (Morgan); great-grandchildren, Phoebe Shumate, Kyler Shumate, Maverick Shumate, Jade Shumate, Ivy Shumate, and brothers, Kirk Spears and Roger Spears (Barbara).

In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 1425 Flint Hill Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
