Gail Olivia (Poole) Gaither

Rev. Gail Olivia Poole Gaither, age 80 of Millers Creek, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Wake Forest  Baptist Health-Wilkes Medical Center after a battle with COVID-19, the day before her 81st birthday.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, May 14, 2021 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robin Sipe and Pastor John Gaither officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel’s Garden  Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Gail was born May 2, 1940 in Forsyth County to Phil Stoneman and Omie Olivia Mayes Poole. She played and received her letter in ladies basketball at Statesville Hgh School and was voted the most athletic female. She graduated in 1958. She was an ovarian and breast cancer survivor. Gail had a wide range of interests throughout her life. She was an excellent tennis player, an avid history buff and she enjoyed searching genealogies for her family and friends. Most importantly,  Gail loved the Word of God. She spent many hours studying the Scriptures and sought to apply them to her life. She was an ordained minister, but even more so, she was a friend of Jesus. She gave all that she had into His service until she went to meet Him face to face.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Joe Gaither, Sr. and one son, Joe Gaither, Jr.

Gail is survived by two daughters, Pamela Gaither Burgess and husband Thomas of Concord; Ann Teague and husband Mark of Charlotte; two sons, John Gaither and wife Nathalie of Hillsborough, and Steven Gaither and wife Mary Grace of Huntersville; twelve grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Terry Poole and wife Sarah of Statesville, Dan Poole and wife Margie of Sugar Hill, GA, and Don Poole and wife Amy of Social Circle, GA.
