Gail Absher Brown

Mrs. Gail Absher Brown, age 74 of North Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Baptist Home Baptist Church with Rev. David Jones, Rev. David Key and Rev. Tim Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:15 until 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church. 

Mrs. Brown was born April 27, 1946 in Wilkes County to William Claude and Ruby Key Absher.  She was a member of Baptist Home Baptist Church. 

Gail was a City Executive of large savings and loan companies in the 70-80’s during a time when women did not hold that kind of title.  She was active in lobbying in Washington, DC for the laws and regulations that brought us out of the Savings and Loan crisis of the 80’s.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother; Alvin. 

She is survived by her husband; Roger Franklin Brown of the home, a daughter; Michelle Brown Dancy and husband Allen C. of Wilkesboro, a son; Jimmy Scott Brown and wife LeeAnn of Millers Creek, two grandchildren; Noah Allen Dancy and Presley Janelle Dancy, two sisters; Joyce Faw and husband Sherrill of North Wilkesboro, Allene Minton and husband Eddie of Wilkesboro, two brothers; Steven Absher and wife Grace of North Wilkesboro and Bryce Absher and wife Tammy of Rock Hill, SC.
