Franklin W. Reason of Wilkesboro, age 81, husband of Margaret (Ruth Porter) Reason, has “gone home to be with Jesus” on August 20th after a bout with liver cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Derrick Hodges and Rev. Mark Barlow officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 29th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his Mom, Dad, sister and two nieces.
He loved God, his family, his children and bird hunting. He taught Sunday School, led Royal Rangers and coached Little League Baseball for many years, from 1970 until experiencing health problems. He retired from LP Corporation (Abitibi) after almost 50 years of service, where his co-workers became friends.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years of marriage, Margaret Reason. He is also survived by many children and grandchildren: two sons, Kevin (Valerie) Reason of Boiling Springs, SC, and Keith (Christy) Reason of Candler, NC; two daughters, Angela (Rob) Gardner of Wendell, NC, and Alica (Mike) Benton of Baton Rouge, LA. His 11 grandchildren love him dearly: Kayla and Amelia Gardner, Justin (Samantha) and Jessica Reason, Maddie, Alana, Destin, and Hester Benton, Ciara and Kaden Reason. He is also survived by his brother William (Margaret) Reason, and his sister Annie Maness. He leaves his family, church family and friends expecting to have them join him in heaven.
