Eva Grace (Jennings) Shumate

Mrs. Eva Grace Jennings Shumate, age 88, of McGrady, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at her home.

A graveside service will be held  2:00 PM Friday, November 26, 2021 at Pine View Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Foster, and Pastor Roger Jennings officiating.

Mrs. Shumate was born September 29, 1933 in Wilkes County to Oscar and Dona Dillard Jennings. She was an avid card player, playing games on computer, loved taking care of her family, and watching them and their friends grow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Shumate; one daughter, Judy Shumate Harrold; two sisters, Dell Bell and Dealia Young; and four brothers, Don Jennings, Herman Jennings, Harrison Jennings, and Bill Jennings.

Mrs. Shumate is survived by one daughter, Patricia Shumate Ladd and husband William of McGrady; and three sons, Tim Shumate of McGrady, Larry Shumate and wife, Elizabeth of North Wilkesboro, and Ronald Shumate and wife Gail of Millers Creek; six grandchildren, Tanya Blankenship, Bryan Ladd, Courtney Shumate, Chad Shumate, Scotty Shumate, and James Harrold; nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Lonnie Jennings and wife Erie of North Wilkesboro, and Barney Jennings and wife Betty of McGrady; and fur baby, Buffy.
