Mr. Eugene Triplett, age 88 of Wilkesboro, passed away June 30, 2025 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation.

A joint Celebration of Life Service for Eugene Triplett and Mary Ellen Foster Triplett will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Reach Center with Rev. Kevin Brown officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

He was born November 16, 1936, in the Ferguson community of Wilkes County, to Jesse Dana Triplett, Sr. and Mary Jane Johnson Triplett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ellen Foster Triplett; two sisters; Linda Wingler and Edith Edmiston, and four brothers; Jesse, Warren, Carl, and Benny Triplett.

Mr. Triplett is survived by his three sons; Randy Eugene Triplett and wife Sandra, Neil Scott Triplett and wife Carolyn, and Tracy Jonathan Triplett and wife Julie all of Wilkesboro.  In addition, he is survived by five grandsons; Mark R. Triplett and wife Erika of Hamptonville, Matthew R. Triplett and wife Andrea, of Lewisville, Caleb A. Triplett and wife Angela of Leon, Iowa, Zachary N. Triplett and wife Bridget of Ashburn, Virginia, and Cody S. Triplett, of Durham; seven great grandsons; Andrew Triplett and wife Ashley, Jaxon, Noah, Davis, Jesse, and Ty Triplett and Tristan Blevins; two great granddaughters; Madison Sullivan and husband Steven and Hallie Triplett; one great-great grandson, Benji Triplett; two sisters; Carolyn Hall and husband Paul, and Louise Pierce; one brother; Clinton Triplett and Angie; two sisters-in-law; Ruby Triplett, Teresa Triplett,  and numerous special nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted and long-standing member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he faithfully served as the church custodian and oversaw the maintenance of the church for 30 years. With meticulous care, he prepared the baptistry for sacred baptisms, waxed and buffed the floors to a shine, and ensured the heating and air units were always in optimal working condition. His pride in maintaining the church was evident, as he dedicated himself to making sure it was always ready to welcome worshippers. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Triplett Construction and Champion Grocery.  In his earlier years, he was a prolific builder, constructing over 75 homes and numerous commercial buildings throughout Wilkes and the surrounding counties. Additionally, as a poultry farmer, he spent countless hours on his tractor, whether it was tending to the farm or clearing snow from the church parking lot and the driveways of neighbors. His joy in helping both his church and community was a testament to his generosity and work ethic.

He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who taught his family the invaluable lesson of hard work. His legacy is etched in the lives of those he touched, and he will be remembered for the lasting impact he made on his community and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund, 239 Champion/Mt. Pleasant Rd, Wilkesboro, NC 28697 or Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation, particularly Mrs. Brandy Billings, for the compassionate care and attention given to his medical and physical needs.
