Ed Lee Carlton, Sr., age 83 of Boomer passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Ronald Howell and Rev. Graylin Carlton officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard will be at Scenic Memorial Gardens.

He was born on January 16, 1942, in Wilkes County to Eugene and Ruthie Parsons Carlton.  He loved sports and always attended high school ball games.  He was active in the community, especially with softball.  He loved to garden and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a very passionate Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Carlton, Damon Carlton and Alfonzo “Ben” Carlton.

He is survived by his wife, Sallie Carlton, five sons, Charles “Squeaky” Carlton of Boomer, Antonio Nigel Carlton of Boomer, “Train” Ed Lee Carlton, Jr. (Cheri) of Lenoir, Franklin “Toji” Carlton (Denise) of Savannah, GA, and Dwayne Carlton of Boomer; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Carlton Hendricks of Boomer.
