Dusty Rhodes, III

Dusty Rhodes, III, 38, affectionately known as D, passed away February 1, 2025, after a brief illness. 

D was born in Wilkes County to Dusty and Lynne Conner Rhodes.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Wilkesboro.

D graduated from Wilkes Central High School and attended Wilkes Community College where he acted in several plays with the drama department.  D was a member of the Oakwoods Country Club Fantasy Football League, winning two championship trophies.  Much to his parents’ dismay, he was a Carolina Tarheel fan.

Preceding him in death were his father, Dusty Rhodes, Jr., a grandfather, Kurt Conner, a grandmother, Darlene Conner, and grandparents, Gordon and Judy Rhodes.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his aunts and uncles, Jane and Charlie Shumate, Ellen and Tim Wilson, Debby and Doug Pinnell, Donna and Jerry Darnell, Diana and Terry Wickman, and Denise and Hank Sturkie; and cousins, Alex Shumate, Owen Shumate, Harrison Wilson, Michael Darnell, Lauren Orzechowski, Jack Pinnell, Joe Wickman, John Wickman, Hunter Sturkie, and Stewart Sturkie. 

No services or visitation will be held.  In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Wilkes, P.O. Box 306, North Wilkesboro NC 28659 or NC Disaster Relief Fund for Hurricane Helene Victims at nc.gov/donate or NC Disaster Relief Fund, 20312 Mail Service Center,
