Dr. Jimmie Ray Suttle, age 88 of Ferguson, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at his home.

Dr. Suttle was born December 26, 1932 to Henry Teller and Thelma Eva Jones Suttle. Dr. Suttle received his Bachelor’s Degree from Presbyterian College, Clinton, SC. He received his Master’s Degree from Duke University, Durham, NC as a recipient of a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. He received his Doctorate Degree from NC State University in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of JSEP (Joint Service Education Project), IEEE Fellow (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Suttle; sister, Mildred Satterfield; and brother, Dwight Suttle.

Dr. Suttle is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances Joan Barker Suttle of the home; two daughters, Helen Cocklin and husband Greg of Ferguson, and Ellen Edmonds and husband, Pastor Gerald Edmonds of Clearwater, FL; daughter-in-law, Lynette Teague of Durham; special friend, Stephanie Elliott of Wilkesboro; and special feline furbaby “ J J”
