Mr. Douglas Howard “Doug” Church, 55 of Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Call Family Distillery in Wilkesboro with Rev. David Wellborn and Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating.   The family will receive friends following the service.  A private family graveside will be held at Lewis Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.

Doug was born May 2, 1969, in Wilkes County to Howard Taft Church, Jr. and Jackie Annis Winkler Church.   Doug attended Union Elementary School and played Little League baseball for many years.  He graduated from West Wilkes High School in 1987 where he excelled on the wrestling team with Coach C.H. Necessary.  He attended Wilkes Community College.  Doug was a car dealer and owner of C&C Used Cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Howard Taft Church, Sr., Lessie Verlie Dunn Church, Ulysses Grant Winkler, and Willie Glea Norris Winkler.

He is survived by two sisters, Denise Church Sidden and Michelle Church Isom (Dale), all of Wilkesboro; four nieces and nephews, Nicole Deal Slate (Johnny) and Dustin Deal (Whitney) all of Wilkesboro, Daniel Isom (Katie) of North Wilkesboro, and Caitlen Isom Wurdeman (Matthew) of State Road; twelve great-nieces and -nephews, Lilly Slate, Juliana Isom, Will Slate, Glory Maeve Deal, Maggie Slate, Mercer Deal, Ruthie Deal, Wilder Wurdeman, Lexie Isom, Annie Isom,  Eli Wurdeman, and Asher Isom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson NC 27017.
