Dorothy “Dot” Anne Pierce Joines, 88, of Wilkesboro, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.

Dot was born in Wilkes County February 23, 1937, to Howard Sabert and Annie Whittington Pierce. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bobby Dean Pierce and Daniel William Pierce.

She is survived by her only son, Jeffrey “JJ” Bruce Joines (Lora) of Wilkesboro; three grandchildren, Zachary Joines (Hannah) of Raleigh, NC; Jennifer “Nikki” Joines (Bryan Anderson) of Wilkesboro; and Candice Joines (Anthony Brown) of North Wilkesboro; and three great grandsons, John-Brooks Anderson, Tate Brown and Tucker Brown. She is also survived by four nephews and several cousins.

Dot worked for Dr. Bond for 14.5 years as a medical secretary. During that time, she began nursing school and, upon graduation, joined Wilkes Regional Hospital, where she served for 34 years. She earned her medical-surgical certification and spent her first four years as an LPN on the surgical floor. After becoming a registered nurse (RN), she worked for many years on the Telemetry Heart Monitor floor. Her final 20 years were dedicated to the Recovery Room and Outpatient Surgical Department until her retirement. In her later years, her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Dot was a devoted member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church and deeply appreciated the support and care shown to her during her illness. She was especially grateful to Elder Steve and Jean Melton, and Deacon Alan and Denise Whittington.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilkesboro Baptist Church, with Dr. Chris Hefner officiating. Friends may visit the family from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. A private graveside service will follow. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Reins-Sturdivant.
