Mrs. Dorothy Harris McNeill, age 98 of Millers Creek passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Wilkes Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Union United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Lankford officiating. Burial will in be in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from12:45 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
Dorothy was born August 27, 1924 in Wilkes County to Clyde Gray and Jeanette Call Harris. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church and served as Church Treasurer for many years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Dorothy retired from Modern Globe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; George Robert “Bob” McNeill, a daughter; Bobbie Jean McNeill Merritt, a sister; Blanche Harris Canter and a brother; Dwight Harris.
She is survived by two daughters; Brenda McNeill Lineberry and husband G.W. of Dobson, Beth Ann McNeill Foster and husband Ronnie of Wilkesboro.
Five grandchildren; Teresa Merritt Moore of Lancaster, SC, Melody Sale Pylant and husband Drew of Winston-Salem, Aaron James Foster and wife Tracy of Wilkesboro, Nicole Foster Murray and husband Max of Asheville, Garrett Colston Foster and wife Amber of Wilkesboro.
Seven great grandchildren; Jessica M. Whitesides and husband Cody of Fort Mill, SC, Austin Sale of Dobson, Natalie Moore of Lancaster, SC, Carrie Foster Davis and husband Hunter of Wilkesboro, Chloe Jennings of Winston-Salem, Cassius Jennings of Winston-Salem, Nora Murray of Asheville .four bonus great grandchildren; Halley Wagoner, Chloe Hauser, Weston Hauser and Lily Pylant.
Two great great grandchildren; Ben Whitesides and Caleb Whitesides both of Fort Mill, SC.
A son-in-law; Tommy Merritt of Indian Land, SC and a sister-in-law; Vivian Hamby McNeil of Danville, VA.
