Mrs. Dorothy Gant Eller, age 86, of Millers Creek, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Arbor Grove Methodist Church. The casket will be placed in the church at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone to a reception in the church Fellowship Hall following the committal service.
Dorothy was born on December 3, 1939, in Wilkes County to Oliver Eugene Gant, Sr., and Nancy Victoria Reavis Gant. She was a member of Arbor Grove Methodist Church.
Dorothy dedicated 26 years of service to the children and families of Wilkes County as a Teacher’s Assistant at Millers Creek Elementary School. Following her retirement, she continued to serve the community as a substitute teacher for many years at numerous schools throughout Wilkes County. Her caring nature, patience, and devotion to children left a lasting impact on generations of students and educators.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frank Eller, Jr.; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie Gant Bauguess and husband, R.C., and Janice Gant Anderson and husband, Terry, and sisters, Judy Kay Gant and Jesse Elizabeth Gant.
She is survived by her loving children, a daughter, Cynthia Eller Patton of North Carolina, a son, C. Craig Eller, and wife Tracey of Jupiter, FL, four grandchildren, Deanna Eloise Eller, Amanda Lee Eller, David Charles Patton, and Andrew Scott Patton, two sisters, Lana Gant Prevette, and husband Wayne, Treva Gant McCain, and husband Mark; and one brother, Oliver Eugene Gant, Jr., and wife Jeanie.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Arbor Grove Methodist Church in care of Lindsey Eller, 590 Shepherd River Road, Millers Creek, NC 28651.
