Mrs. Doris Ann Alexander Mastin, age 98 of Roaring River, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. 

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Mark Wood and Rev. Eddie Tharpe officiating. Burial will be in Roaring River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  

Doris was born September 22, 1926, in Madison County Indiana to Sanford Swim and Sarah Jane Sparks Alexander. She was a member of Roaring River Baptist Church. Doris was also a member of Roaring River Ruritan Club and Roaring River Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Sunday dinners were a big part of fellowship with our Granny. Everybody in Roaring River had to stop for popcorn balls year after year on Halloween. Doris had a special way of teaching kids to tie their shoes. She stitched her love in making baby quilts for her family and numerous people in the community. Doris had a special talent with her story telling and was always proud of her garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; John S. “Bud” Mastin, six sisters; Ruth Babec, Helen Goforth, Imogene Benfield, Bonnie Fearrington, Mary Nell Bell, Margie Eagle, three brothers; Clayton Alexander, Danny Alexander, and Clifton Alexander. 

She is survived by two daughters; Peggy Mastin Johnson (Mickey) of Roaring River, Barbara Mastin Reynolds (Dale) of Roaring River, son; John “Buddy” Mastin Jr.(Connie) of Ronda, five grandchildren; Andy Johnson (Karen), Benjamin Johnson, Beth Brooks (Jon),  Matthew Reynolds (Chassidy), Brent Reynolds (Brandi), seven great-grandchildren; Chloe, Aven, Christopher, Clint, Kylee, Bayla, Adalyn, sister; Patsy Hayes (Chick), three brothers; Don Alexander, Larry Alexander, William Alexander, and sister-in-law; Pauline Alexander, special friend and neighbor of over 60 years; Mary Ann Tharpe. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice as well as Sheila Earp, Lillie Wood, and Karen Wooten for the special care they provided to their mother.
