Mrs. Doris Hendren Johnson, age 96, passed away Saturday July 2, 2022, at Westwood Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday July 5, 2022 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ryan Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening July 4, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Doris was born March 14, 1926, in Wilkes County to John and Iduma Hayes Hendren. She was a lifelong resident of Wilkesboro and member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. She was a loving and caring Christian lady. She lived her life as a true testament to her faith. She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting and cross-stitch. She was a hard working homemaker who enjoyed blessing others with her talents.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Guilford Clinton “Gib” Johnson; one son; Clay Barnard Johnson; one daughter; Brenda Hodges; one brother; George Hendren; three sisters; Eula Marlowe, Gradie Souther and Mabel Mathis.
She is survived by one daughter: Linda Prevette (Junior) husband of Wilkesboro; granddaughters; Leanne Sidden (Micah) of North Wilkesboro, Holly Absher (Bryan) of Wilkesboro; grandsons; Cameron Prevette (Youpi), Rodney Prevette, Jason Prevette (Alisha), Josh Richardson (Karen), Adam Richardson, Derrick Johnson (Pam) all of Wilkesboro, David Johnson (Donna) of North Wilkesboro, Steven Johnson (Andrea) of Statesville, Ryan Hodges (Bethany) of Taylorsville and Adam Hodges of Millers Creek; one brother; Glenn Hendren of Greensboro and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express thanks to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and staff at Westwood Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, especially the Spark Unit, for all their compassion, love and care.
