Donald Douglas Peterson

Donald Douglas Peterson, born April 10, 1944, died peacefully at home with his family on June 19, 2026.

He was born in Davenport, Iowa to the late Martha and Elof Peterson. He met his future wife, Donna Peterson at the age of 16 in Evanston, Illinois and they have been married for 60 years.

Donald attended Augustana College prior to the University of Chicago Medical School, a surgery internship in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Urology Residency in Chapel Hill, NC. He proudly served in the Navy as a Urologist, in Memphis, TN prior to being honorably discharged in 1977.

He moved to Wilkesboro, NC in 1977 where he established himself as a successful Urologist in private practice for 45 years. He loved his farm life filled with cattle, horses, donkeys, chickens, dogs and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Peterson of the home; daughter Lena (Andy) of Knoxville, TN, daughter, Alyssa (Jason) of Wilkesboro and son, Clayton of the home.
