Dewey "Vance" Cleary

Mr. Dewey “Vance” Cleary, age 87 of Hays, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, at his home.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Boyce Cleary officiating. 

Mr. Cleary was born March 19, 1938, in Wilkes County to Garr and Sally Bell Cleary.  He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cleary was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Chipman and Reba Prevette, and brothers, Willard Cleary and Carl Cleary.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Grace Hawkins Cleary, of the home; son, Chip Cleary (Sandra) of Hays; grandchildren, Cory Cleary (Rebecca) and Tiffiny Call (Chris); and great-grandchildren, Carson Call, Camren Call, Caden Call, Corbin Call, and Hayley Brown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 103, Hays NC 28635.

Pallbearers will be Cory Cleary, Chris Call, Carson Call, Camren Call, Caden Call, Ricky Viles, and Chuck Cleary.
