Mr. David Lincoln Ray, age 81 of Traphill passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2025, at his home.
A gathering of friends and family for a time of sharing memories, will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
David was born July 12, 1943, in Kitzmiller, Garrett County, Maryland to Delmar Linden and Vivian Virginia Kirby Ray. He was a Chaplain’s Assistant in the United States Army, an ordained minister and graduated from Northeast Bible Institute. David spoke and played the piano/accordion at churches across the United States. He was a foster parent and was involved with Teen Challenge as a Counselor. A Tea Party member in Wilkes County and actively participated in the Republican and Wilkes County Commissioner meetings. We will miss you, “Daddy Pooh”.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; Pearl Joan Covert Ray of the home, two daughters; Chrisann Fowler and husband Marc of Kannapolis, Sara Ray of Tobaccoville, two sons; Durand (Randy) Ray and wife Rita of North Wilkesboro, Jeffrey Ray and wife Kristina of Lake Havasu City, AZ, nine grandchildren; Daniel Ray, Elijah Ray, John Ray, Autumn Ray, Hannah Ray, Jayden Benge, Ethan Benge, Mariyah Wallace, Zariah Wallace and a sister; Linda Mitchell of Morgantown, WV.
