David Clifton Clonch

With sadness and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of David Clifton Clonch of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, who departed this life on February 27, 2025, at the age of 62.

David was born on August 31, 1962, to Mildred Darlene Edmisten and Sherman Clifton Clonch. A lifelong resident of Wilkes County, NC, David never strayed far from the foothills of the Blue Ridge for too long before making his return. David attended North Wilkes High School, where he played trumpet in the marching band and excelled in art.

David dedicated his working life to the furniture industry of the region, spending decades at Key City Furniture in Wilkes until its closure in 2013, and most recently serving as the Head of Product Development for Taylor King Furniture in Taylorsville, NC. His sharp eye for design and detail earned him respect throughout his professional community.

David is survived by his daughter, Allison Clonch; and his siblings Leslie Utt, Dennis Clonch, and Eric Clonch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Darlene Edmisten Clonch Smith and Sherman Clifton Clonch, and his sister, Shirlene Goforth.

A celebration of David's life will be held on March 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro.
